Robert E. Connors, FACHE, PMP, is the Sole Owner and Principal of E-Health Designs, LLC. Mr. Connors understands the business of health delivery and information technology. He has 35 years significant leadership in the Military Health System, leading health operations and designing, developing, testing, hosting, implementing, training, and sustaining clinical and business solutions.
Mr. Connors excels at creating shared vision, employing system-thinking, and generating involved team learning in multiple health settings. He employs futuristic thinking tempered by practical implementation skills. He is a Myers-Briggs INTJ Type, for those interested in leveraging that sort of personalilty type in their organization.
During his military career Mr. Connors served as a Hospital Administrator, Chief Information Officer, Staff Officer on the Navy Surgeons General’s staff, and Navy Medicine’s first Director of Data Quality, Business and Clinical Intelligence, and Knowledge Management. He retired in 2000 as a Commander, Medical Service Corps, United States Navy. During his military tenure, Mr. Connors managed budgets as large as $70 million dollars per year, and staffs of 250 personnel. He was honored to receive the Navy Achievement Medal (x2), Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal (x2), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Oversees Service Ribbon (times 4), National Defense Service Medal.
He is the past recipient of the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior Award for Sustained Excellence, and the RADM Charles B. Loar Literary Award, received at the Lewis E. Angelo Professional Symposium (LEAPS).
Mr. Connors earned an MS in Information Systems Technology and MHA in Hospital Administration from The George Washington University. He also earned a BA in Psychology, Cum Laude, with a focus on Applied and Organizational Psychology, from The State University of NY at Albany, and has additional training in Labor Relations from The Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Connors maintains credentials as a Board-Certified Health Executive as a Fellow, American College Health Executives (FACHE). He also earned the coveted Project Management Institute (PMI), Project Management Professional (PMP).
He is a published author, participates in local and national Health Information Management and Systems Society affairs, and speaks at national healthcare conferences, such as the American College of Health Executives’ Congress on Health Leadership, and Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference and Exhibition.
Mr. Connors is currently employed full-time by The Geneva Foundation as a Scientist III, on contract to the Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center (TATRC), U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, Fort Detrick, MD. As such, E-Health Designs, LLC, will engage only in non-military related health information technology consulting, as to prevent any conflict of interest.
In his spare time, he may be found teaching HIT at Montgomery College in Gaithersburg, MD, or be fly-fishing for trout on the North Branch of the Potomac River in the panhandle of Maryland.
